    Default Astronomy Club Observatory Sites

    Greetings!

I am interested in pictures showing layouts and plans of club observatory sites. Our club has a developed 6 acre site with the main club observatory along with member owned private observatories and several pads for club members. The site is an ongoing project as is most all club observing sites so fresh ideas are always welcome. Along with pictures, I would also like any comments regarding club observing sites that might be helpful.

    Thanks-JB

PS-I'll post up some pics and comments regarding our site too. Maybe some of you can get some ideas from club site.
Wishing you clear, dark skies and good health!, JB

I belong to two clubs.. both 30 miles from my home but in opposite directions..
    .
One of the clubs has two "dark sites" and the other uses a farmers field ...None of them have pads..none of them have electricity what they do have is darker skies.. and easy access

I Hate the winter so I use heated Motorcycle clothing to stay warm while observing in winter
Retired, also have 2 other hobbies
    1. tinker with older Corvettes (6 in garage)
    2. make a heck of a lot of sawdust in my wood shop.

    Hi JB,

Here's a link to our club's website here in the south of France.

The artist's impression at the top of the first page shows a newly added main information hall at the far end of the complex.
Its only just been finished and recently we spent a couple of enjoyable hours fixing our scale model planets to it's high ceiling!

My french is a little lacking (I had 4 years in HS) since it's not been used in about 35 years but all I can say is, WOW! That is really great and will be a wonderful asset to the club and community.

I suggest that you contact an officer of the Riverside Astronomical Society. They own a 10 acre, dark-sky, site in Landers, Ca. It has several member-leased observatories as well as a large number of concrete pads. In addition there is a structure with a kitchen, two bathrooms, etc.

The facility is named GMARS and is noted on their website. The club has monthly star parties at this site.

I'm sure they would help you.

The Albuquerque Astronomical Society has a pretty nice facility about 40 miles south of the city. Here's the link:
