ARCHAEOLOGISTS WILL DATE ANY OLD THING
Should I call archeologists & ask them that if they have any old telescopes?
I cant see the link which you have given because i do not have 5 posts. Plz mail me the link at: samindrabasu@gmail.com
Since you live in India, maybe you can do some research yourself and find out who sells telescopes in your area. Most of us have no idea who sells telescopes in your neighborhood when we are thousands of miles away.
I Googled "Telescopes in India" and had thousands of returns. Do some research, you will find what you are looking for.
Good luck

Dear SkyGazer,
You can check with Tejraj & Co. Mumbai for a 114 mm telescope. Also, you may want to check with the local astronomy fraternity in West Bengal. I have an old 5.1 inch Newt Tube which a perfectly good mirror. However, the focuser, eye pieces and the mount is gone kaput. Should you want this I can send you photographs of the same privately.
Another place to look is the active Indian astronomy yahoo groups.
All the best for your search

I'd suggest a great place to look for old 'scopes would be local astronomy clubs. I'm sure there are plenty in kolkata. U might even try asking at the Space arcade shop at Science city.
Best of luck,
Nishit
you could get a Galileo D=100mm/F=1000mm Newtonian on Eq1 for About Rs.13000 from Welcome to Galileo Telescope Makers or
you could get a SKY 125 EQ D=125 / F=900mm parabolic reflector. . . . Rs. 14,000 From SKY, D=125mm, F=900mm, Reflector Telescope, Startracker System
any thing cheaper would reduce the diameter

Thank you all of you for your kind reply.
But now I'm making a 8" Newtonian at home with the help of 'Sky Watchers' Association' in Kolkata. They have helped me very much. Their address is:

If you are staying in or near Kolkata, I would greatly recommend this association to all.

I admit that I have low experience regarding astronomical goods towards your country. But, since we are mates on the BRICS countries, I dare to send you some words.
Here in Brazil, you can buy from eBay, either from USA , UK (I have experiences in both markets), pay Customs and have very good equipments sold by very respectable sellers that ship to you at a moderate costs. If they sell to Brazil , many of them will sell to India.
I´ll add that , even for used equipment, I´ve never had a complain. Just pay via PayPal so you´ll be always on the safe side.
Other than that, you should look on on "flea market/bids" local sites, eBay alike. It will keep you busy for long time.
Kind regards,
Jacques
