Default Did somebody use a telephoto lens as telescope

Recently I tried a Canon EF 70-200 2.8L on my camera and I was wondering whether it is possible to attach eyepieces and a star diagonal to such a lens which is far more and compact than a telescope of similar aperture and should have the same quality (the Canon L lenses with the red ring). Any ideas on this ?

It can be done and has been done before ..The guy that did it was a tinkerer of sorts ..He wrote a thread about it but i cant find it ...You will have to made an adapter for the t-ring to a diagnol and that should be it ..Red ring lenses have a tripod adapter built in , right ?

I had an 800mm lens for a 35mm SLR and bought an adapter specifically for useing it as a telescope. Don't remember the company but check the large mail order photography places.
