Default can i see deep space objects on my scope or only on film?

So on a website that was selling my telescope it advertised (below) that I can see details of galaxies and their spirals, nebulae, etc. Is this true? I thought my scope would only do that with a camera on a timed exposure? Can anyone verify this? I have a Celestron C-8 Advanced SGT.

On top of that the large aperture of the Celestron C-8 captures enough light so that you can see thousands of deep sky objects in detail - galaxies will reveal their spiral structure, planetaries and gas nebulae will show lots of detail and globulars are often dissolved into single stars.

hey thanks for sharing your site. Have you setup tracking on your scope?

As for your question, usually colors and details are much paler than the pictures shown on telescope sites, magazines etc when viewing without timed astrophotography, however there are many that say that they have seen colors and details in dark sky locations for deep sky objects. I cant say I have, however I am sure there are some that have seen something.

Probably helps to be in a dark location and not in the city!
