    Default new telescope new diy

Now when i have got my new refractor (TS-optics 80mm triplet) i almost immediately thought about buying an motor focuser for it. I had my eye one a sesto senso from primalucelab but then i changed my mind and thought to save some money on building a new version but this time a direct drift.
Its going to be the same arduino rev3 and easyedriver v44 controllboards as ive used before. Why change something that proven to work really good before
    Here i am right now:

    The motor is an Nema17.
Luckily enough o found a place where they had shaft couplings for 4mm and 5mm so it fitted perfectly without doing any drilling.

I have ordered some aluminium pieces for the brackets. Hopefully they will arrive this week so i can start the manufacturing

    Hi Mikael,

That looks very cool. Can't wait to see the finished product. Hope you don't hit any snags and your manufacturing the housing goes smoothly.

    Cheers,

I have made some progress on the bracket for the stepmotor this weekend. Feels very sturdy but not pretty but with a little sanding and grinding it maybe can look a little better.
Now i just need to get a 23mm drill for the stepmotor hole.

I have now got the steppermotor in place on the focuser.
Now its just some testing to see if it will turn the focuser without any issues

Looking good Mikael. The bracket has come up very well with some black paint!

    Good luck with the testing.

Thanks Dean! Its just some finishing up thats need to be done after i had to file up some of the holes that didnt line up properly. Its all done with a handheld screwdriver so not very exact. But it came out fine after i sprayed some point on it

Now i have done the first test of the focuser and it worked perfectly. Only thing that was wrong at first was that 2 pins from the easydriver to the arduinoboard was in the wrong place but after i changed to the right pins it started turning as it should

    Well done Mikael!
I noticed the Duplo blocks in the background of the video. Were they going to be part of your your back-up plan in case the focuser didn't work properly?
