Also it sits beautifully on the Vixen SP mount , like they were made for each other .

Cant wait for the moon as I bet this scope will perform very well here , as said a report to come .

You guys get the Orion ' EON ' 110mm f6 that is the same scope and made by Long Perng but only in the black anodised alloy with chrome accents .

Good to know! I bet Orion charges a good premium for the name.

I just checked the Orion site. It isn't there anymore. I remember it was once and perhaps again....

They were $2400aud when avaliable , the un-branded straight LP's were $1499aud so yes $900aud for a name etched into the dew shield and focuser ,,, woaw ! , but this was a few years ago and these have been superceded by the EON 110 triplets and these are $2999aud !! .

I am more than happy with mine for $740aud delivered .

I got home from work tonight and thought ?? lets check the new 110mm f6 APO against the 60mm f7 triplet in the daylight as I have had them out side by side the other night in BAD ! seeing , but I wanted to see how LP 's quality of build stacks up through their different models .

Glad to say that their quality is almost identical so they do keep their QA up , and that's great to see that we are blessed with manufacturers that can build scopes to a very good standard time after time , impressive stuff that don't cost an arm and leg like some other's ( I won't mention here ) and when I sold my Takahashi FS60c and missed it so much so I grabbed the little 60mm LP triplet and I will say that the LP is as good optically and mechanically for 1/3 the price ( FPL51 triplet vrs Fluorite doublet ) .

Note the sweet alloy cases in the background , supplied free .

    Anyway enjoy the photos .

Classic Orion. Any time I considering Orion, I look hard to see if others offer the same stuff for less, and more often than not that's the case. Looks like you got good scope for a good price, enjoy!

Default Re: 1st light with Long Perng 110mm f6 APO .

Hi all , well I managed a quick look at last night's 6 day old moon with the LP 110mm APO and ,,,,,,,

All I can say is WOAW ! this scope controls CA extremely well for an FPL51 doublet ! , even up to 170x 8mm TV Plossl and Celestron 2x Ultima barlow I was pressed to see any , just a tiny amount that I recon was more atmosphere than optics .

I used my 15mm TV Plossl and Ultima most giving 88x and the view was so sharp with awesome contrast showing the tube is baffled very well .

I lookled at Jupiter , getting low now and Saturn and these 2 held up well at 170x as the touchy focus problems I had last time were way better behaved . Saturn especially looked very nice with the rings looking especially good ! .

Another win for this scope , I knew it would be a Luna killer , here is a quick and dirty shot taken with my phone hand held to the 15mm and Barlow ay 88x , it's only cropped to remove the eyepiece edge , note the lack of light scatter .

    Comments welcome .

    Brian.
