    Default Curious about Gskyer telescope

    Hi everybody...

I'll go straight to the point: does anybody have any opinion about Gskyer telescopes?

I am so tempted to get one but I don't know if they are just "toys" or they are actually good.

I saw for example the Gskyer EQ 80900, or Gskyer Telescope, 600x90mm AZ, or also the Gskyer Telescope, 130EQ.
I have this strong feeling that they are like the Celestron XLT series.

What do you think about Gskyer telescopes?...

    Clear skyes!

Just from looking at each on the Amazon site and never having touched one, I'd say they appear to be fairly decent starter scopes.

If this is your first scope, I recommend dodging the 130EQ. That is an f/5 focal ratio, and they can be pretty twitchy for the uninitiated. I see the objective cell can be collimated, but caution that a fast scope like this one is very touchy to a good collimation.

Of the fracs, the 600 x 90mm AZ would be my choice. Bad things about the fracs are the straight-line finder and the diagonal... both would have to go bye-bye if I owned one. The finder can be replaced by a GSO RACI for around $70. The diagonal can be expensive, but it is money well spent in the long run.

The EQ mount on the 80900 & 130 EQ is pretty lame and there really is no reason to jump into that pool as a beginner. The tripod legs on all three are very small, and there will be some shake when adjusting focus.

That's all I've got. Good luck and Clear Skies

Hello everyone, I wanted to provide an update on the company GSkyer Telescopes. I purchased one of their telescopes on Amazon.com, and the paperwork says it comes with a one-year warranty, as does the Amazon.com website. I was unable to find any contact information for Gskyer so I contacted Amazon and spent about an hour with them on the phone. They confirmed that the company Gskyer has gone out of business and the company is liquidating all of their product through Amazon.com. The product is being sold and shipped by Amazon. There is no warranty through the company. However, Amazon has confirmed in an email to me that
they (Amazon) will honor the one-year warranty if there is a problem with a telescope. Amazon stated
they will either replace it or refund the money. I am providing this information because a lot of others have inquired about this company and no one was able to answer the questions. I'm hoping this will help with anyone who was thinking about purchasing one of these telescopes. Please share this info as you see fit.

Ebay prices look high compared to Amazon. I am waiting for my AZ90600 to be delivered. I'll post some pics and a review.
