    Default It's heerrreee

Santa, errr, I mean FedEx was here today. They dropped off a box (yes I said they, there were 2 guys sent out to handle the big boxes they were delivering today). Since there was a light rain falling, they were nice enough to carry the box into my garage for me so I could use a dolly to move it inside. The first thing I thought was "What the h_ll did I do now?" I am used to moving my C14 in the JMI case I have for it which has wheels. I simply roll it to the spot where I want to remove the OTA from the case before hefting it onto the mount. Looking at the box for my latest craziness I wondered if I may have gone too far. I opened the shipping carton and removed the packaging. Then I spread my arms to try to grab the handles on each end of the scope case; quite the reach. I hefted a little and saw it was going to be quite a bit more to handle than moving my old 127mm in it's case. Then I noticed, the new case has wheels; COOL!! Thank you ES! I stood the carton on end and slid/rolled the case out of the carton.

Work got in the way of doing much more than looking at the beast but everything looks OK, no shipping damage was obvious.

Of course here is the sky today:
    2016-12-05 09.08.35.jpg

and a quick shot of the new arrival:
    2016-12-05 11.11.08.jpg

Hopefully I can find some time to put things together tomorrow and place it on the mount to balance things. More to come...

Sorry, it is stored away for the night. It is the same type case that my "old" 127mm CF triplet had but bigger and heavier. Pics tomorrow, I promise.

Nice, very nice Dennis. No, actually awesome. A 152mm Carbon Fiber Triplet APO refractor. I used to drool over the Astrophysics Starfire research grade instruments, and here you are with this beautiful instrument. Congratulations Dennis, and more pictures and a first light report soon.
