I would thinkg the XT8 would be good since I have been quite happy with the XT6. Have had mine for about a year and a half and have seen many deep space objects, plus Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars.

I second powerwindows! The Orion is a great scope. I've got the XT10, and I'm thrilled with it. I haven't seen as many deep sky objects as powerwindows, but I'm working on them.
You can't go wrong with the XT8.

Yes! it's a very good telescope, in fact you can upgrade to the XT10 if you like.
