6" vs 8" Reflector Telescope

hi all, i was wondering if the difference between a 6" reflector and a 8" reflector was worth the price jump. i am just getting into telescopes (not new to astronomy) and have settled on a reflector because i will be taking it around places, and a Dob is out of the question. i have been looking at the Orion Skyview Pro EQ 8 and the Orion similar model at 6" also.

Aperture, aperture, aperture......If planets are your main targets, the 6" scope will be fine, but if you also want to find DSO's, the 8" will give you the advantage there. Always go for the biggest scope that you are willing to carry around. As for ep's, if on a budget, I'd recommend the meade super plossl's or the equivalent models from Orion, etc. They work very well for a reasonable price. Clear skies

6" isn't really a great deal more portable than an 8"

If portability is a big issue - get a SCT or Mak design.
If you have a car, and portability isn't such an issue, then as already said - aperture wins.
I carry a 10" optical tube on my car's back seat quite often, so an 8" would be OK
