| hi all, i was wondering if the difference between a 6" reflector and a 8" reflector was worth the price jump. i am just getting into telescopes (not new to astronomy) and have settled on a reflector because i will be taking it around places, and a Dob is out of the question. i have been looking at the Orion Skyview Pro EQ 8 and the Orion similar model at 6" also. i am sorry if this question has been asked before, but i would appreciate your help, thanks! |

6" isn't really a great deal more portable than an 8" If portability is a big issue - get a SCT or Mak design. If you have a car, and portability isn't such an issue, then as already said - aperture wins. I carry a 10" optical tube on my car's back seat quite often, so an 8" would be OK Last edited by Carlos_dfc; 08-15-2008 at 01:08 AM. |
