Default Telescope Ads and Buying a Scope

Hi all...was browsing the telescope ads on the net and it can be overwhelming. I am new and dont have a scope yet, but have used binoculars for now.

Any advice on where to purchase at the best price for say a 6"-8" Dob with extra eyepieces.

Also recived at closeout catalog from Heartland with a Galileo Reflector 900 mm focal lengh 102mm objective lens and Mars eye finderscope, also 2 eyepices 20mm & 6.8-16mm and a 3x barlow lens, tripod ect. All this for $99.00....is this a junk scope I used to see this company on QVC or the HSC.

Any thoughts where & what I should buy Also used is fine with me

I would not go with the scope you describe. It sounds very much like a junker. 2 eypieces plus a barlow will cost more than $99.00 WITHOUT the scope.
Look at Orion, Meade, and Celestron. You can't go wrong with those manufacturers.
Also check out <www.scopereviews.com> by Ed Ting. Even if he doesn't review the EXACT scope you're considering, he gives a great overview of the whole field.

Please don't throw away your money on the $99 telescope.
