Default GRS on Jupiter?

Hello all,
I Had a chance (between showers) to do some observing of Jupiter in the early hours today using my 10" Newtonian. The atmosphere was very unsteady but I am sure the GRS was visible around 12.15 UT. Can anyone confirm this as I cant find any transit data. It was difficult to observe as the image was suffering from unsteady air but I'm sure it was visible. It appeared to be a lot darker in colour than it has been for some years. Any comments would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Brian

Adding to Techno's question, has anyone checked whether Stellarium's depiction of the revolution of Jupiter is accurate? I know that when I watched Europa emerge from behind the planet the other night it was about 50 minutes behind when Stellarium predicted.

I have yet to see the GRS.

We have been broadcasting our presence to the Universe for 100 years now. If there is a detachment of Galactic Pest Control within 100 light years, they are already on the way.

According to Sky and Telescope the GRS should have been visible crossing the center at 0318UT for the morning of 8/14. I checked it for me and it was about dead on tonight. You can check here for [Registered users can see links. ].
Hope this Helps!

I observed the GRS last night much to my surprise. Stellarium is off concerning Jupiter's rotation. I had expected the GRS to disappear around the edge sometime before 10:30 but it was actually dead center at midnight.

While this was the first time that I observed the GRS, it also seemed darker to me than the impression I had been given. Who knows, maybe it will become as distinct as it was around the 1960s-70s...
