It is a real planet. It has no planets or stars rotating around it.

Jupiter is a planet. It is not even close to being big enough to explode. Our own sun isn't even big enough to end in a supernova.

Jupiter is considered a planet, but it is also mostly a big ball of gas, and can be considered a small brown dwarf. A brown dwarf is like a star, but doesn't have enough mass to "ignite" or sustain the fusion reaction needed to burn like a star.

Some of its moons are pretty large; the largest is bigger than planets Pluto and Mercury. But I don't think anyone is worried that Jupiter will spontaneously transform into a star.

In one of Arthur C. Clarke's novels, 2010 I think it was, Jupiter does turn into a star after significant mass is added to it...

Jupiter is far too small - you need 15x Jupiter mass to be a brown dwarf, and much more to ignite as a proper star.
