A television station broadcasts at a frequency of 86 MHz. The circuit contains an inductor withan inductance L = 1.2 x 10–6 H and a variable-capacitance C. Determine the value of C that allows this television station to be tuned in. |

What we seem to have here is an LC circuit, which consists of a Capacitor and Inductor. We need to know one very important facts about LC circuits, and that is that they have a frequency which current alternates between the two components at. frequency = 1 / sqrt(LC) We know the frequency and the value of L, so solve this equation for C to find out the capacitance. C = 1.13e-10 F |
