Default Orion Object Locator ST Catalog

For users of the Orion Intelliscope Object Locator: Appendix D:ST Catalog is available in Excel spreadsheet. (I don't think this information has ever been posted before).

On some occasions I've needed to know if a particular star is included in the intelliscope's database and what its assigned number is. Their printed star "Appendix D:ST Catalog" is 16 pages of tiny print. To make things worse, they are not grouped by constellation. It takes forever to find the star you want. Until today I didn't know there was an Excel spreadsheet available for download (free) from Orion Telescopes. You can sort it into constellation groups (or any way you wish). You just have to use their "live chat" feature (not email) and ask for it. They'll send you the link.

Or, if you're not familiar with sorting excel spreadsheets, I'd be happy to send you a copy of mine (already grouped by constellation) in either excel or pdf format. Just PM me.

I also found a list of double stars (about 140) with their Orion Locator number here:http://www.cvafresno.org/download/do...FFFB70B916030F

I talked to Orion via their chat line. They insist that this information has never been true. Perhaps the author of the original message could help us out by posting the location of the Excel spreadsheet.

You can find it here. Appendix D, toward the end or the manual.

Thank you for your post, Mary, but I'm looking for the Excel version of this spreadsheet so I can manipulate the data.

PM means private message. You can do so by clicking on the person's user name. I'll email the excel file now.
