    Default Aperture Fever

I recently acquired an Orion 90mm refractor and I am already feeling the effects of aperture fever. I am already casually looking at a much larger aperture reflector. I am not seriously considering buying a new scope already, but I am window shopping. This is addicting.

    Yup!

It will get ya every time!

Then when you do get a big scope the other stuff kicks in! (AP, more and better eyepieces, bigger / better mount, pier, Observatory......) It never ends!

If it's not one fever it's another, definately a terminal desease.

I headed off aperture fever by getting a 12" relector on a Dob mount. It is big and it is the largest size I would be willing to manage in a non permanant installation.

But the finder scope is straight through with a reversed image so that could be changed, I ordered new eyepiece holders with the compression ring and the raiser mount for the Telrad.

A refractor like yours would be nice to have and, and, and...

Haha, it's a bad bug to have. I have been temporarily cured with 10 inches. I can't say it won't come back , but for now the fever is in remission.

I told a friend of mine that I had bought my third scope recently and he just laughed at me.
When I asked what was so funny, he shrugged and said when he started fishing some years back he thought one rod would be enough for his hobby.

He now has 14 and is still in the market every day...

Bottom Line is not many of us "make do" with one telescope....

I own 4 that I used regularly 4 and 5 inch refractors and 8 and 11 inch SCTS... Such a difference that I have to have two sets of eyepieces .....

Major problem is making up my mind what I am interested in viewing on any given night and on what time of the year it is and will I be viewing from home or traveling with the scope...

You can't hunt deer with a 22 and you do not want to hunt squirrels with a shotgun nor do you want to shoot skeet with a 308

PS I also own 7 cars.. + my wife owns one... ya never know which will come out to play to play the game I want to play lol

Yes-- many of us become "GEAR-HEADS" !

Once I got my 10 inch DOB I really never wanted anything bigger that I could not move around by myself.
