Do not want to start an OS war; but anytime I deal with anything related to M$, I feel ripped off.

    Ever try Linux?

There are advantages of Win7 and I will admit it.

Unfortunately for me, there are not enough reasons to upgrade at this moment and time.

I tried Win7 RC and it was a slightly faster - most likely due to having 4GBs of RAM and XP limits it to 3GBs.

Since you have tried Ubuntu (not for the weak of heart), you probably know or heard the rumors of Win8 supporting 128 bit applications even though there are only small numbers of apps supporting 64 currently.

I always try to stay a step or two behind because of lowered prices and driver support.

(Probably because of using extreme over-clocking methods and burning it up after about two years, but building computers is fun for me and seeing how hard you can push something.)

Actually, I hate to admit it but I only started using XP a couple of years ago due to driver support of Win2K.

At any rate, I will always have a love-hate relationship with M$, but have to admit M$ is being generous (for them) for all of the upgrade methods and the drop in price if you get it before RTM is actually hitting the store shelves before 10.22.09.
