Default Off Topic Forum Guidelines, Please Read

Welcome to the Off Topic Forum.

Here is a place where you don't have to talk about Astronomy, or even relate to Astronomy.

We all have other interests, don't we? Well most of us, anyway.

You could post about your other hobbies, or about your favourite books or movies, or your pets or just about anything. Humour is welcome, and you don't even have to stay "on topic" in a thread, within reason, as long as you stay respectful.

There are, however, some things that even here we cannot permit:

    Astrology is forbidden

Absolutely no Politics from any nation, nor religion of any kind, no exceptions.

No posts intended to deliberately create a reaction ("trolls")

    No racist or sexist remarks.

No advertising, this is not a buy and sell column

Please keep your posts "family friendly" and stay polite to, and respectful of each other and the members of Astronomy Forum .net in general

Thank you in advance for your co operation and enjoy yourselves.

(On behalf of the Astronomy Forum .net team)

    Update for January 2013:

Due to the continued 'pushing of the envelope', testing the limits of the moderation staff within the Off-Topic forum, the following addition is now in force:

    - Nonsense threads will not be tolerated - if you create one, you'll get a single warning, and any further deviation toward the land of nonsense will result in an immediate and permanent ban. While this is indeed an Off-Topic forum, there are limits of decorum, considerate behavior, and the intent and spirit of the Forums, as opposed to no-holds barred behavior and continuous 'probing' of the limits.

    - As is consistent with the Astronomy Forum's Terms of Service (TOS), the moderators and administration staff have the sole discretion as to what is, or is not appropriate, and may take the actions they deem necessary in moderation. Challenging the moderation staff, constant needling, PM's, complaints over moderation actions, and related bad behavior are a sure route to a permanent ban.

We do our best here to maintain an environment free of spammers, trolls, troublemakers, all while providing an environment open to all, to many ideas, to general freedom of expression, but there are limits.
