    Default Christchurch attack.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Christchurch as they recover from another senseless attack.

When will humans stop killing each other over politics and religion?
Let's hope the perpetrators rot in a prison cell while they contemplate that!

It's weird. There is consensus among religions that killing is "not to be done". There is consensus among political systems that murder is criminal. Folks nevertheless delude themselves into acting contrary to religion and politics because they feel justified in terrorizing others into agreement.

Agreed, and the dead(with all due respect) will not accept or care for your ideals and those still living will only dig in their heels and resist even further.
Change comes from dialogue not violence, I have no sympathy for these pathetic people that do such cowardly things.
The good news is there have been arrests and they deserve no mercy.

I would put it a little differently since I'm not a "no mercy" kind of guy. Rather the mercy I would extend these folks is trial and punishment under the law. That is mercy enough.

I doubt the perpetrator was observant in any religion, so let's make this clear; this was a purely politically motivated terrorist attack, the only religious aspect is how the terrorist chose who to attack.
So similar to the 2011 Norway attack, where the victims were members of a the youth wing of a mainstream political party. The attacks are political terrorism.

I do not name the people responsible as I'm adopting the same approach as with mass shootings:
    -Don't share their name
    -Don't share their face
    -Don't share their writings
    -Don't share their videos
    -Don't make them infamous
All opinions you read here are given freely and are worth every cent.

Not offended and not so very gentle. It's just when such thoughts occur to me I choose to not give it any further energy. There are two things that I recall.

One is a positive reminder from Emerson:
“Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.”
The second is a negative reminder. It's the scene near the end of "Lawrence of Arabia" where he cracks and calls for "no prisoners" in slaughtering a retreating Turkish troop column. It's pretty horrific what mob thinking can do.

Anyway, this is the only way I know avoiding giving terrorists a victory. They want us to be like them.

Besides there is no terrorism gene. It's a learned behavior.

There used to be an evolutionary advantage to wiping out the other tribe. We have not adapted to civilization fully. Some of us still play with the idea of destroying "the other tribe". In this world there is only one tribe though as far as I can see.
