Thumbs down "The Other Side of the Wind"

I'm a huge Orson Wells fan. So this recent completion of an unfinished movie had to be seen!

I can recommend it to you if you are suffering from insomnia and need a sleep aid with no side effects other than regret at not having knocked yourself out with a ball peen hammer instead.

Welles fan myself, but, some of his movies can get like that. I saw yesterday that Roku channel had The Trial, and I'm like "do I really feel like watching that...." No. Errol Flynn won instead.

Well let me add some calibration data:

I like The Trial. In a trade off with Errol Flynn it would win half the time depending on whether the mood tipped for art or entertainment. This film is much worse than anything Welles has done.

Although Welles was IN it he didn't DO it. So my "worse than anything Welles has done" should be understood in the context of directing / producing / writing.

Apart from that quibble, it might indeed STILL be worse than the Transformers flick since I haven't seen the latter.

Hi nFA. Thanks for the heads up on the recent completion of "The Other Side of the Wind. And although Orson Welles is still best known for "Citizen Kane", with the Mercury Theatre actors, I still think that his best performance was in "Touch of Evil", from1958.

I should note that my negative view isn't shared. Apparently it's getting high praise from RottenTomatoes, Metacritic and others.
