    Default Wood Lathe Work

I've been playing around with a cheap Harbor Freight mini lathe and a set of their turning tools. Here are a couple of projects I've done recently:

On the top is a little turned Christmas tree. It is a nice little skill builder project.
The second is a wine bottle stopper made from a piece of scrap wood.
Third is my first attempt at a pen (Manhattan)
Fourth is a mini bolt-action bullet pen made with turned Acrylic.

I made this piano pen for a gift to my church's piano player. It's a white acrylic which I sliced and added slivers of black acrylic.

My wife is interested in it as well. We both signed up for a bowl turning class up in San Francisco with David Marks. It won't be until next October but it should be fun.

Looks great! Is that wine stopper purple heart? Or just stained that color.

The wine stopper? I'll guess Maple, Grain doesn't look right for PH.
