I'm with Leveye - Forbidden Planet. Don't know why I like it to so much but to purely escape Guardians of the Galaxy.
It looks like you are all going to get me to finally watch Firefly......
    Moving on.......

Affirmative! Might be a bit of a fan boy here, but I have read the book more times than I've watched the series.... and I own a copy of the series.
    Moving on.......

Close Encounters was an awesome production.
I liked the '84 version of a Dune by David Lynch. Very... Baroque. Plus Patrick Stewart.
    TV Series? Space 1999! Lol.

    Hello. I would add
    Starship Troopers
V, the original TV series from 1983
Star Wars, the first from 1979
Total recal, the latest version. I agree that in fact it is not bad at all
Aliens 1, 2, 3. Not the last no. 4. Disappointing
    Guardians of the Galaxy
Star Trek, the last 2 movies, looking forward to the 3rd starting next week

And of course all time favorite : Firefly TV series

Hopefully you get a chance ce to see them all, but even more I hope you will miss some for later due to finding a job soon. Good luck. Crossing fingers.

Hey Goldstar, since you appreciate George Pal you might add The War of the Worlds and First Men in the Moon.

Beware of the remake - It is beyond absolutely terrible

Oh the and sequel to 2001 - 2010, very fine film

And a personal fav "Outland" - basically a remake of High Noon in outer space.

Also a very strong vote for Forbidden Planet, and my guilt pleasure is "This Island Earth" and the "Postman"

Interesting response here. Most of everything everybody mentioned is further on down my list somewhere. Accuse me of being a purist but although I love the "Alien" series I tend to include them under "horror". Yes Rogan, I am a great George Pal fan. Been waiting a long time for The First Men in the Moon to appear in Netflix. I know it is still in "print" out there. I am not sure how Netflix decides which movies to bring into the corral. Perhaps by demand?
Anywhooo-no one has suggested that little gem called Dark Star-now I have!
