Default I used to love snow...

Perhaps even last year, snow was a gift. I made massive snow forts, snowmen with my sister, et cetera. Now, forecast says snow and ice. Having just gotten the Orion XT6, I now often am annoyed by all types of weather unless it's clear when I'm in an astronomy mood. Rain is sometimes fine, and snow is snowkay (bad pun), but now, the curse of weather is upon me. Is it very common for this kind of bad luck to occur with weather at the same time you get a new telescope? If so, I'm glad it isn't just me.

Indeed it is. The law of large numbers is going to continue this trend for the rest of your astronomical career. Currently here at my home in Canada I haven't been able to see through clouds since the beginning of October except for perhaps a handful of times. Get used to disappointing weather. Luckily I have a vast collection of astronomical documentaries which take a bit of the itch out... for a little while.

Enjoy your scope. Dobsonians are wonderful.

    Clear skies, Jon
