Thumbs up I need your feedback and your help...

Folks, with the mods permission, I come to you to ask for help with my site, AstroNews (http://starsnstuff.webege.com/astronews/)

To cut a long story short, I’m looking to increase awareness and visibility of my site and I’m hoping that some of you might be able to help.

Many moons ago, ie, the late nineties, when the internet was a comparatively new and exciting frontier, many folks created their own websites to tell others about their hopes and dreams… and hobbies. I had my own website, StarLore, which was designed to be an online database of the constellations and the many splendors you could find there.

Back then, you could email other like-minded folk and exchange links – they would put a link to your site on their webpage and you would do the same for them. That’s how you got visitors. Unfortunately, the world has changed and that’s no longer the case. It’s a lot harder now to get a website off the ground.

In November 2010, I created AstroNews. My aim was twofold – to create an online archive of astronomical press releases and to tie it in with my sidebar gadget, which allowed users to keep up-to-date with astronomical developments.

The number of visitors has been going up but I’m looking to draw more people in. After all, there’s little or no sense in having a website if no one is visiting!

Next month I’m hoping to start creating my own astronomical announcements – night sky events like eclipses etc. This will help to generate interest, but I need consistently returning visitors. I'll also be getting a "real" domain that will hopefully help to keep the site in mind.

And this is where I need your help…

Take a look at the site and if you like it, I would be very grateful if you are willing and able to spread the word about AstroNews. For example, if you hear of someone looking for more info about a particular astronomical story or event, maybe you could point them toward AstroNews.

If you belong to an astronomy club or society, maybe they would be willing to mention the site in a newsletter or meeting.

What can I offer in return? Not a lot, if I’m honest. The best I can do right now is to provide a link to your own website (astronomical or not), or to your club or society’s website. Maybe your club or society has an announcement I can add to the site. An old school link exchange.

Likewise, any comments or suggestions would also be appreciated. You can contact me directly by sending me a message through astronomyforum.net and I have a short, ten question survey at AstroNews Visitor Survey too.

Thanks for your time. I appreciate your support.

Not a problem... as with most things, I created the site because I wanted to... I'm creative by nature, I have to create something LOL And if others find it beneficial, then it's all good LOL Being a Pixar geek, I have the same mentality as they do... you put your heart and your soul into it, the quality will come through and the end product will speak for itself and that's basically how I approach anything creative.

Thanks guys - as I said, I'm also willing to promote events etc. So if you're a member of a club or society and they're having a star party, if someone wants to write a release, I'll get it out there.

In fact, I'm going to start contacting clubs to offer this.
