Default Moon & Jupiter

I thank Carolgentle for the heads up on this one. She had some great photos from her location in Scotland.
The clouds finally moved east just after sundown and I was able to get these images of the moon in "earthshine". Thanks Carol, I learned something today.

Those are nice shots, indeed. Can clearly see the moons of Jupiter and that earthglow is quite nice.

What did you use to shoot these, Kent?

I can't sleep , so I'm back up again ! Gee , nightshifts are a pain.

Anyways , soooooo glad a couple of UK'ers manged to get a couple of images of this conjunction. Carol did very well in her earlier post , not long started and you are bagging conjunctions with Earthshine. Superb.

Kent , way to go with that almost maxed out zoom ( 192mm ) , I'm sure I can just about make out three Galilean Moons .

Really impressed how quick you two have picked up WF Astrophotography, well done and keep it up.

Thanks Pete. Yes I got in a hurry and didn't turn the zoom all the way to max. I am so used to terrestial images where the light can change so quickly. I think I can slow down next time for a shot like this. I first mounted my 300mm, but couldn't get both in the frame. Here is a crop of frame #8069 showing the visible moons of Jupiter.
I appreciate your encouragement for us new people in this very interesting hobby.

Something caught my eye here , with the crop . Checked it out and I am reasonably sure you have caught all four Galilean Moons !

The bottom two are very close together and from your location may have been closer , also the time I checked was 17.54 Hrs.

Check it out

Great shots Kent. Glad the clouds cleared for you. Those moon shots are beautiful and getting the moons of Jupiter - excellent!

I'm just loving the hobby and thanks to the members of the forum am learning new things every day too. Look forward to seeing some more of your photos.

Clear skies.
