I had a try at processing some video in registax, I'm still trying to figure out how to use this programme, still not got to grips with wavelets. Anyway this is the result. If anyone can offer some suggestions for processing lunar shots in Registax it would be much appreciated.

Now this is were I hold up my hands , I have not used that programme in yonks. What I will say is that it looks better than the other one you posted. Wall detail especially. IIRC there is a tutorial somewhere about wavelets and such.

    If I Recall Correctly.

Yup mount up and a running , level and true and plumb and brilliant and awesome and tracking really well. Behaving itself very nicely actually. Tried to get the guider up and running , pesky clouds just had to come along and blow raspberries all over MY skies. Rats !

Anyways no worries, PA is done and dusted , mount now parked up for next time.

Sat is meant to be a clear one here, first night off as well . Guiding part two on Sat it will be.

    Clear Skies

    Hi Carol,

Nice job on the reprocess, you are pulling some more detail out of your images this way. As for RegiStax...love it for planetary, I use AviStack for lunar work. I'm still trying to come to grips with the new versions of both programs, lots of new things to discover about them How to learn wavelet sharpening? Really the best way is to load an average/good, properly focused image in RegiStax and start moving sliders while taking note of what they do. Start with the first one and move it up 10 to 15 increments and see how it affects your image (note the numbers in the "Preview" box). Next, using the same slider (by the way, I recommend using sliders 3-6 for this) nudge the little up and down arrows in the window that defaults at 0.10 and see how they further impact your image...take notes. It is remarkable how very minor adjustments can have a huge effect on an image. The number one rule: DO NOT overdo it! Cruise the web and you will see countless examples of how otherwise potentially decent images were ruined by over processing in general and over sharpening in particular.Use a light touch and take the time to really learn what the sliders can do for you...and you will be repaid many times over for the effort. I hope this helps, let me know if there is anything I can do to assist...

    Clear Skies, Brian

P.S. RegiStax is fine for lunar work, I just prefer AviStack!

    Hi Brian,

I had to chuckle when I read your p.s....... that thought did cross my mind!
I made a start on trying to understand those sliders tonight, you made some excellent points in your post which I'm taking on board. I see what you mean about overdoing it, I fell into that trap myself tonight, all part of the learning process isn't it?

    Thanks very much.
