Default is it possible for an eclipse of mercury (planet) to happen on earth?

is it possible? H.G wells time machine gave me idea as he moves so far forward in time mercury becomes a lot closer to earth & it causes an eclipse.

yes but not that close.

mercury oftenly eclipses the sun, but it is so small that we dont even notice it.

In order for mercury to eclipse the sun as the moon, it would have to get as close to the earth as the moon. which is pretty much impossible. it is more likely for venus to do that, but that is still impossible.

but you could get a close-up look of mercury or venus in a telescope! lol, that's what they're made for! to see the space
