Default GPS problems after April 6

There have been a few Meade scopes with GPS units that have reported problems and their date have moved on to 2099. These are LX90ACF and LX200GPS scopes. The LX90ACF is a 2011 model serial # 109***. I have two LX90ACF's with serial #111*** and 112*** and they are still working 100% at this stage. It is only the date part of the GPS that becomes a problem, after you have entered the date manually it works fine. The people at StarPatch/StarGPS are working on patched firmware for the LX200 and Autostar/Audiostar controllers and they should be ready for download in a few days time at : https://www.stargps.ca/starpatch.htm
If you want to load the patched firmware you would need to download the StarPatch 1.913 installation program and the patched firmware suitable for your device.

I'm thinking that this will be the route I'll be taking to get my LX200GPS fully functional once again.

One minor correction? I think the erroneous date is in 1999 rather than 2099. . .

This is what was displayed by the 2011 LX90ACF , in fact on 13 April it displayed : "20-Aug-2099". I think that the GPS firmware compensated for the first rollover in 1999 but this has a adverse effect in 2019. Did your LX200 display 1999 ?

Nope, I've yet to fire mine up after the roll-over. So if yours is actually saying 2099, that's what mine will likely say as well!

The thing is, the way these systems usually work, it should be going back 19.7 years so it is pretty odd that it in fact advances by decades!!!

I had my LS8 out last week and (although I didn't check what date was displayed), it performed GOTO as well as it ever does, so I am assuming it had the right date.

It could be the "20xx" is hard coded.

Anyway, for users with LX200GPs (4.2g) and 497 Autostars (43Eg), we have just loaded patches to correct the problem on the StarPatch site.
    http://www.stargps.ca/downloads.htm
You will need to use the freeware StarPatch loader to load them in the normal manner.
The GPS rollover option is not selected by default, so if you need it, ensure it is checked before you load.
    More models will follow shortly

Meade has explicitly said that the LS-6 and LS-8 should have no problem so I think all who own those should expect unimpaired performance.

Is it just a date issue? Just fired up my old Garmin 2000 (bought and initialized in April of 1997) My home coordinates are the same and it still says April 1997. Bill

Funny, just yesterday I fired up my old Garmin eTrex Vista I bought in 2007. The old girl had not been used since when I lived in Oregon almost 4 years ago. So needless to say she needed quite awhile to find the "new location". When everything was timed in and she knew where she was, lo and behold it showed the correct date. Huh??? Now here's the weird thing, every time I've fired it up since then it shows some screwy date like 9 August 1938 or 15 July 1959. It does this whether I use the "remembered" position or try a brand new find "new location" routine. It's curious why it first showed the correct date but since then it is not.

    Random luck?

    Cheers,
    JT
