    Default power tank for meade

I have the Lx 90 and have used the celestron power tank which I purchased in 2010 along with my scope. Time to replace power tank and thinking of getting the celestron lithium pro. However, I was informed that the cable from tank to scope does not fit the latter. I can easily get the same tank but wanted to upgrade to new battery type. Appreciate your feedback and advise. thanks in advance. allen

For $50 or less (available coupons) you can get this. Same battery you've been using but it can actually jumpstart your car.

If the power tank has the 5.5 x 2.1 power tip, you can get an adapter plug for cheap to convert it to the 5.5 x 2.5 tip that Meade usually uses.

Lithium is the only way to go in my opinion. Maybe even take a look into a cheaper and smaller version of the Celestron unit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01337QXMA...v_ov_lig_dp_it

A 17Ah SLA is a really nice compromise between weight and capacity. Just make sure you have a fuse in the scope circuit - 2A fast blow is usually more than enough and can save you serious dollars in the event of a foul up.

Bill, when I spoke to celestron directly they were uncertain as to whether the cable would fit Meade. I then called OPT and they checked it and the cable did not fit the meade. How did you lithium pro cable fit your meade scope? Am very curious. Did the 12V DC 10A cable jack fit with is a little round connector just fit? I was thinking of just using my power cord from my old celestron power supply with the lithium pro.

Many Meade units use the 5.5 x 2.5 plug. If this is the case with yours, this will adapt the standard Celestron plug over to the Meade size plug. https://www.amazon.com/OMNIHIL-Adapt...+x+2.5+adapter

Get the Harbor Freight Power box. It's the same thing as the Power Tank, but much less. It retails for $52.95 but you can use a 20% off coupon and get it for less. I have two of these and they work great.

Sorry, should have been more specific. When I called OPT, I told them I had an ETX-125. They substituted a longer Mead appropriate adapter for the 6' Celestron cord. Bill
