A search turns up that it is a Meade offering for polar alignment. The LNT (Level North Technology) module was introduced in October 2004 and included a level sensor, a magnetic north sensor, accelerometer, real-time clock and a frameless red-dot viewfinder.

Level North Technology. It automatically tells the mount where level and north are. I have had a few of these and did not find them to be particularly accurate. I would bypass the automatic alignment using it and do a manual alignment where I leveled the scope and pointed it toward the celestial pole myself and the goto was more accurate this way than the LNT.

They were supplied with their alt/az mounts and it was for goto alignment, not polar alignment.

I am not sure as I have not seen one of the newer ETX Observers but I do not believe they come with them now. They do not state that they have them, they list just a red dot finder. The pictures I've seen of the newer scope show a different looking red dot than the LNT modules I've had.
