    It will compensate somewhat. If it is close to level, then the inaccuracies are so small as to be unnoticeable for visual work (to begin with). If the level is off considerably, the inaccuracies will be much more noticeable very quickly. Whatever error you have to start with compounds over time, a small error takes a long time to be noticeable, a larger error to begin with adds up much quicker. This can be overcome by periodically syncing to a particular area of the sky (using the High Precision), but again, the mount wasn't designed to operate like this continually and is capable of good accuracy if closely level and detail to the alignment procedure is followed. A little extra time during the alignment procedure will make the scope easier to use and faster to accurately acquire your targets and to smoothly track them.

    I understand your concerns but leveling a tripod is skill that improves with practice. I use a single bubble level on the OTA and start off by positioning it parallel to two legs, then rotating it 180 degrees and adjusting the OTA angle util the error is the same in both directions. then I adjust one of the two legs until its level. I then point it to the third leg and adjust that leg till the OTA is level rotating it 180 degrees again. Remember even after this exercise the tripod would still not be perfectly level but close. The LNT should compensate for the rest. By giving your goto system a near level platform its calculations will be closer to the target and errors will be smaller. Remember to use a red light when doing this in the dark outside or set it up just before sunset so the tube have time to cool to outside temperature.

    OTA=Optical Tube Assembly

    It is the scope tube alone with no mount.

    If you will notice, many terms you see here on the forum are colored blue, like OTA in your post. If you let your cursor sit on the blue text, or click on it, you will get an explanation of the term.
