Metric fastners are usually hard to find at your local hardware store or big box store (ie Homedepot, Lowes or Menards) in the US. I usually end up ordering metric fastners from McMaster-Carr (mcmaster) on the web. McMaster-Carr has a good selection, but you usually end up with a lifetime supply on the smaller sizes due to the minimal quantity size of the order

If you have a Lowes nearby, you may want to check the drawers in the hardware area of all the special screws, etc. I have been very successful in getting metric screws there. They typically have a good selection of metric sizes in various lengths.
