Default Do you have a stripped focal tube?

if you do I have an easy fix... I have this Meade DS2130 that I let the kids play with but the focal tube stripped out many years ago and Meade does no make parts for this one any more.. it's 0.965 eyepiece..

what I did was filed down the damaged teeth on the tube just enough to make the section smooth and then used an piece of vacuum sweeper belt (A hoover belt ) if you are wondering

I cut to fit and used good cyanoacrylate (super glue ) and glued it to the tube re installed the focal gear and wallah works like a charm ... took me less than 10 minutes to fix..

But word to the caution i would let the glue dry thoroughly if it was still wet when you put it back in the assembly that would very bad.. and no I did not do that in case you were thinking it...

sorry no pics but if some one is in need I can take few and send them to you.

A toothed belt from an old printer works well too - you can fit it up to the motor if you're clever and get electronic focus... now there's a thought, I have an old printer too!
