Question Alternate Star Alignment

I have 10" LX200 AltAz. Sometimes the self align stars are dim that I cannot center them in my eyepiece. I have heard there is a way to select an alternate star but donot know the procedure. If anyone knowshow to select an alternate star please let me know how.
