Meade LX10 with Magellan I

I have a Meade LX10 with a Magellan I, I am attempting to connect it to my PC with the serial connection. According to the manual, you make the cable (done), attach it to the computer (done), ensure the correct settings (done), attach it to the Magellan (done), and .... nothing. So the book is vague. Well, apparently, the critical step is the one that was omitted, because try as I may, it won't work. I am beginning to beleive that no one has ever been successful, since I am unable to find a mention of a solution anywhere on the internet. So, if anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Do not know if you have solved this but the first thing I would do is open a hyperterm session, change the settings to match the magellans output and com port settings and then move the scope around. This will show you if there is any output from your magellan. You can from this at least know that your connection works
