Mars Video Shot with Webcam 2003
Desde Santiago de Chile, Celestron C8, Creative EX webcam

Very similar to what I saw in my Dob 10" in 2003

Just for fun - I downloaded that video, converted to avi, then ran it through 'Registax' software, to get a still image.

This was the result

This was with just a quick run through, and I left all the settings on default.
With a bit of experince using Registax, you could probably get an even better picture, once you get to grips with all the settings.

And again - just for fun..

Here's a Saturn, taken from a fuzzy video on Youtube - and processed through Registax

awesome! I did not even think to do that. Carlos thats quite clever If its even 20-30 fps you must have went through a few hundred stacks i may guess.

With a longer movie 30fps X 2-3 minutes it would be a hundred at least.

Registax does all that for you - at the start, you have a quick look through the video - using a slider - and select one nice sharp frame - or at least, the sharpest one you can find. Then set that as the reference frame.
Then there's a quality setting - I think I used 85% for the Mars and 90% for the Saturn.
Registax then goes through all the frames automatically, and rejects the ones that don't have at leat 85% (or whatever you set) of the quality of the reference frame.
It only takes the program a couple of minutes to sort through 1,000 frames or so.
THe Mars video was 1470 frames, and I think Registax selected about 800 or 900 to work with.
It does all the aligning and stacking automatically too - all you have to do is tweak the settings if you want to.

Great piece of software - and a free download too

No prbs admin - I'll do it myself now.

Also - I feel I must credit the original video maker in the text.
