Cool Best Moon Telescope?

My main interest is the moon but i don't know enough about telescopes to decide which is best for moon observation, real close up, spectacular views of craters that make you go "wow"! If price is not an issue, which is the ideal telescope for lunar observation And what would be a good, cheaper alternative if price was an issue (i.e. under a thousand pounds).

thanks

Of all the objects to observe, the moon is certainly at the top even under modest aperature..due to its huge angular size and brightness... If your only doing visuals, even the standard Dob will do rather well, 8 inch and above, just decide how much you want to handle..if your up to it even 10 inch or more, remember things get heavy quickly as the size increases.. Refractors, either long focal length Achromats, or better the figured APO'S, latter become rather pricy..5 inch and above perform well.. Maks are also well suited, well figured give nice details, even the smaller ones, tho 4 to 5 inch minimum, perhaps at least 6 inch reqired for the views.. Stick with the standards as Meade, Celestron, Orion, Skywatcher for your area, Televue among choice for refractors Nice basic info on Lunar observation..
