    Default tracking problems and other

While setting up at TSP, I raised and banged the counterweight shaft of my iOptron30 Pro pretty hard. Subsequently, the mount started having tracking problems. I can hear a ticking noise. If I put a little pressure on the counterweight, it will start tracking, but after a slew, it starts doing the same thing. Also, I have a HUGE amount of slack in dec that I never noticed before. Seems pretty obvious I need to check it out. Question is what I should be looking for when I take the covers off? Also, a good pointing model could not be built. Goto was not accurate at all. I could manually adjust to a target, give the RA a little nudge, and it would track well.
    Your thoughts will be welcomed.

I have not used iOptron mounts before but there are a few herre that may be able to help you out.
I would also send iOptron an email, they seem to be quite helpful with issues such as this.

I am no expert but it sounds as if you may have a bent or damaged spur (driver) gear or it's shaft. Regards, Bill

iOpton sent me a nice one-pager on how to set the tension on the gear train. Reset and seems like things are fine now.
