Default SAO catalog on iOptron Hand controller?

I miss using the SAO catalog on my goto.
iOptron seems to love the HIP catalog for some reason.
Anyone who knows why they prefer HIP over SAO? Is there any possibility to transfer the database to SAO - or are there plans to offer it in a new software update?

Most planetarium software uses SAO so checking and double checking to get the right number takes a while and doesn't work that easy.

Same issue with the double star catalog. I miss getting more info like the name ( for example "zeta Bootis"-if that's a double but you get my drift). I can choose a double if I knew what constellation it is in, but it's just impossible from only the HIP number, the number in the catalog, or the coordinates.

On the HC , Press Menu- Select and slew - Stars ,this will bring up a list , Named Stars, Binary Stars, GCVS, SAO Catalogue,
Just select SAO and input the star number Lead with a 0 for 5 figure numbers
See page 23 of user manual 5.1.3 stars

I don't have that options on the CEM 60. Under Stars, I only have Named stars, Double stars and HIP catalog.
The IEQ45pro does seem to have SAO, too. But I haven't been able to doublecheck that yet.

I just checked the HC on my CEM60 and the manual. They do not agree.

Under Stars in the HC the menu choices do not include SAO, but the manual says.

    5.1.3. Stars
    • Named Stars: consists of 195 stars with their common names. They are listed alphabetically; a list is included in Appendix E. 
    • Binary Stars: consists of 210binary stars; a list is attached in Appendix E. 
    • GCVS: consists of 38,528 variable stars in the catalog. 
    • SAO Catalog: consists of 258,997SAO catalog objects; they are listed numerically.

Because I use Stellarium for most target slews I never noticed the discrepancy.

Please share the reply from iOptron when you get it (they normally respond quickly).
