Dear Bob,
That's a great reference which alarm me quite so as I am always dreamming for a Dome on top platform of my home . However , those disadvantage(s) do not affact my intention to own a Dome . Because a Dome is a private place ( actually a working place) for this life -lasting hobbys to explore the deep sky . Even I can't see anything or take any photo because of the Dome's location or intereference by radiation or heat convection by using the telescope , at least I still can read books or computers and do some jobs related with astronomy insdie this Dome , even in the day time .
And also , I would prefer to watch mono-color TV programmes at home rather than watching colorful TV programms outside far away from me . Same as I watch sky at home rather taking journey to outside more darker and better places
Thus , the Dome is a must for me !
My only problem is the price to buy one , because it's expensive to buy it and deliver it from oversea .
I had my dream dome which I also want to share it with all of you on below link .
( SkyShed POD Backyard Observatory, SkyShed POD Backyard Observatory for Meade, Celestron, and other popular telescopes, ETX , LX200, LX200GPS, Nexstar, Telvue and more, Personal Observatory Dome SkyShed POD a Backyard Observatory Dome )
That's a great Dome !
I am saving money to buy it , and at same time considering to make a similar one by myslef if I had the skill .. .

Welcome aboard...BUT Jim is correct.... The only way I found this post is that it Mentioned Dr. Clay and Observatories and to be honest the good doctor helped me "site" my Exploradome in 2006 and "we" got it right...lol
If you have questions...just start a new thread ...
