The light pollution in Canberra is still present, but nowhere near as bad as Sydney. With a big telescope sheilded by a dome, light really isnt too big an issue. If you want outdoors, then you don't have far to drive to a dark site.
My scope ia a Polar wedge aligned Nexstar 11 GPS SCT, with a Skywatcher Pro Series ED80 APO piggybacked on top. I use both for imaging, alternating the other for a guide scope. Most of my previous images were manually guided, but I am developing the autoguiding through use of a modified ToUCam 840K.
I am only just developing my planetary photography through use of the ToUcam AVI's, but am currently conducting some mount and cooling modifications to fine tune everything.
