Default Greetings from A.S.I.G.N. Observatory!

Hi all! I came across this forum today and thought I would join to check it out. I have my own observatory and website, and have been into astrophotography for a couple of years.

I love learning, sharing my knowledge freely with any who seek it and absolutely LOVE DIY!

Say hi and I hope to get to know you in the pursuit of the glories of the heavens and all the tools we use in the process!

Baz.

Welcom, ASIGN! This is a good forum for exchanging ideas and learning. You seem to have a lot of experience and--sigh--clear skies. I'm sure you'll prove to be a great asset.

Great stuff ASIGN! i wish i had a setup like that.

What kind of scope do you have in the observatory?

How is the light pollution in Canberra must be much less than Sydney?

thanks for sharing

The light pollution in Canberra is still present, but nowhere near as bad as Sydney. With a big telescope sheilded by a dome, light really isnt too big an issue. If you want outdoors, then you don't have far to drive to a dark site.

My scope ia a Polar wedge aligned Nexstar 11 GPS SCT, with a Skywatcher Pro Series ED80 APO piggybacked on top. I use both for imaging, alternating the other for a guide scope. Most of my previous images were manually guided, but I am developing the autoguiding through use of a modified ToUCam 840K.

I am only just developing my planetary photography through use of the ToUcam AVI's, but am currently conducting some mount and cooling modifications to fine tune everything.

Lots of DIY goes on here... asignobservatory.com/DIY.aspx
I hope to share with anyone who so asks.

Baz.

er...how about....the sun?

Sorry, I had to...lol!

I can't really remember as I was living in Sydney about 4 years ago. I do remember that the milky way was difficult to see in the suburbs. The large and small magellanic clouds were barely visible. Only the main stars were obvious....

Mind you, I don't know how much the light pollution has changed since then.

Baz.
