Thanks, JG! The pier is on the other side of the house. On this side there is a forest behind me when taking the photo, so no view anyway.

    Today was concrete-day

    IMG_1625.jpg
I had a friend come over to help me carry and mix the 20 bags of concrete, half a ton not including the weight of the water. Borrowed the mixer from a neighbour.

    IMG_1630.jpg
All of it in place! The base is 90*90 cm (3*3 feet?) and at least 30 cm (12 inches) thick. Rebar sticking up will be bent into shape and levelled when it´s time to pour the concrete for the pier itself. Had to carve my initials and the year into it

    IMG_1632.jpg
Covered with plastic to avoid too rapid drying. I also water it twice a day for the first few days.

So, what´s happened here since last month? Nothing really... too much to do at work and at home. However, I did have a friend of mine make the stuff for top plate mounting. 16mm threaded rods, 10 mm steel plates. Here it is only temporarily put together. When finalizing, there will be locking nuts to ensure there will be no movement once leveled.

I´ve had a cold for a week and last weekend I suffered a minor disc displacement in my lower back but today I thought "what the heck"...

I've been down with a cold for five days, keeping everyone here on AF company, so I can relate. Nice work on the pier, I'm jealous.

    Finally getting somewhere!

I´ve managed to drill holes in the steel plate and I had a friend make an aluminium adapter for the HEQ5. All set for trying, just need some clear skies now!

    Ooh, I´m getting closer!
Tried the pier a few days ago and it was just a quick test since the moon was up and the dew was heavy.
No balancing of the rig and no counterweight but still managed to get solid 2 minute exposures at 300mm FL without a guider so my PA can´t be that much off.

    IMG_1915.jpg

Also tried out my new camera, but only indoors so far. Wanted to get the rest working first. Hopefully I might be able to get first light with this next week!
    IMG_8166.jpg

Bought myself a new lens to go with the new camera. Samyang 135 f/2.0. Should collect a LOT of photons with that focal ratio
Planning to do very wide fields with this one.
    IMG_8203.jpg

Quick test of the lens. Oh yeah, I think I´m in love!
Wide open at f/2.0 and sharp as a razor!

Great to see the progress, Martin. The results so far sound great. Nice model for that last pic - love to see what it would look like with the lens stopped down to increase depth of field. It is very sharp wide open!
