When I was a young apprentice an older journeyman gave some advice that has stayed with me ever since. Let the machines do the work, don't do the work for the machines.

To that end I wrote a few scripts that start up my remote controlled observatory and equipment. I click one icon on the computer in my living room. That starts up a series of scripts on the observatory computers that load and position all the software and connects everything needing connecting. When the observatory is up and running a second mouse click opens the roof and South wall. One more click and I'm looking at an object I want to see. Then I just sit back and enjoy.

If at some time I feel the setup is just too much work I could combine the startup and roof opening scripts. That would cut my work load in half.
