I have no idea how I missed this project, but I did. That is a really sweet installation. Makes me wish I had a gem.

W\O reading every post, my only recommendation would be isolating the pier from the deck though. I think any obsy should have an isolated pier. Good luck.....

Hi, the pier does not actually touch the deck, so it is isolated from the deck and I can walk right next to the scope while imaging with no effect to the images.
The best thing about that is I can actually use the desk for some visual observing while imaging at the same time, sweet, eh

That is one sweet looking project Paul...congratulations. Too bad my deck is 10 feet off the ground...I'd need a reaallllyyyy long pier made...lol.
On the brighter side, your pier would be excellent to mount a barbecue on when you're not imaging.....Really nice job, looking forward to some 'piertastic' images.
Best
Paul

very nice clean looking project.Well done.
Nice work, you have the patience and planning to make for a good install. I am doing something similar soon. I would have it done by now, but my wife announced she might want us to move! She knows I can be bought, so she is offering to make sure I have a very much better view of all horizons. We are in a suburban area now with a 1/2 acre lot, that really limits my view to the south of the meridian, and also somewhat to the north. We are looking at a mostly cleared four acre site in a wooded area now. I also has a low ranch home. No lots less than 4-5 acres nearby, all heavily wooded, and forested parkland surrounding the cluster of homes. I have my fingers crossed!
