    Pete,

Sounds like we are both at same stage with observatory. I finally have time off and very clear skies forecast beginning Thursday....Hoping my PA and initial equipment runs work out smoothly, looking forward to some serious AP. Have some last minute insulation and wiring to finish to the warm room during daylight hrs. Best of Luck and Clear Skies!

    Cheers guys .

Jeff , I still have quite a bit to do internally but have decided to wait ( i.e I will suffer the lack of insulation ! ) until I decide how best to tackle the roof . Not happy with it as it stands. Makes a bit of noise placing it back on ( manually ) and at 0400 I may upset some good neighbours , don't wont that if I can help it. I installed an alarm the other day , so I can rest easy ( well as best you can , locks being for honest folk ! ). With all the gear in there, it's getting darn tight space wise. Need to use the space wisely methinks.

What a difference the concrete pier has made, everything already set up and in place . No more ''grunting'' with carrying the EQ6P ,lol My only disappointment from the first night using it was getting beat by clouds setting up the guider. That may change on Sat night hopefully.

Did you post up pics of the dome Jeff ? Love to see it insitu.

    Clear Skies

    Pete

Really looking good Pete. Really nice garden setting too. Haven't been on for a bit. Working on my own project. Progress a little slow with my 66 year old back. Will have to start a thread with some pics when I catch up. Enjoy the new ob.

    Pete,

Yes, the pier makes life much easier. I am working on finishing up insulation and sheetrock in the warm room, along with rerouting all my cables to the warm room.

I went to image on a very beautiful night other night and ran into some frustrations. A friend had sprayed up some of the foam insulation in large canister without me around, well he sprayed up into the dome track, needless to say as I go to get ready to image I found it and dome would not rotate, took few hrs to remove all the foam, and few hrs to calm down and regroup.

In process of balancing scope I noticed a slight rocking of the mount on the pier, centerbolt wasnt pulling down the mount firm enough, found issue and installed a washer so that issue is fixed, but I missed out on perfect night!!

I understand about noise at night with roof or dome and neighbors, working on quieting mine down some more, once it is fine tuned I should be ok since dome will mainly face east and south for most imaging requiring very small movements.

I think after about two full nights out I should have everything tuned fairly decent. Looking fwd to upcoming hrs imaging and fine tuning the setup. The observatory was a big step forward. Clear SKies!
