For my eyes, anything much beyond 200x magnification tends to blur details. With a focal length of 1500 mm, a 5 mm would put you at 300x (telescope focal length / eyepiece focal length = magnification).
Over time, I've downsized to two 2" eyepieces and a 2" barlow. I have the original 30 mm eyepiece the telescope came with, a 16 mm Konig eyepiece that I absolutely love from Gary Russel at Russel Optics, and the Zhumell 2x 2" barlow. With an effective 8mm eyepiece, I get 187.5x magnification, which has proven to be more than enough for me in a 2 inch eyepiece.
I have a Celestron XCel 1.25 inch 5 mm eyepiece, but it doesn't provide planetary or lunar views that are as good as my barlowed two inch 16 mm Konig from Russel Optics.
