Problem with wind? and Locking the finder down

I did a quick scan and didn't see anything about this and later posts point to a different user group? so I got a question to ask. Does anyone have a problem with the wind blowing to hard? Last night I went out and this thing was like a big sail every time the wind would gust. It wasn't very often but it did make centering the finder a little difficult. Should I just add some weight to the base or ???
Also is there a way to lock down the finder once it's centered? I have both versions of the 'manual' and either I missed it or it's not in there.
Thanks in advance,

I haven't had mine in high winds yet, but I have a ton of trouble with my Newtonian with even moderate wind. Did you tighten the base lock? And let me know what you find out about the finder scope, I haven't been able to do anything with it but focus it.

I center my finder scope and telrad finder every time i take the scope out.It only takes a minute.Have u looked into a telrad or other laser finder.A lot of
of zob users find them very useful in locating objects.I found that just using the spotter scope,i saw too many stars in its field of view to get me in the ballpark. The telrad fixed that for me.
I haven't had any wind problems yet.Like Adam said, check that the tension bolt is tight enough. It should make a difference.
happy hunting

Centering is no problem and I can get it dead on to the target. It's just that if it gets bumped, the finder, it messes with the centering and then I'm back to it again. With the wind whipping around last night it made it a chore a few times. I'll have to check the tension screw too. I saw a telrad for the first time this week and wow it's huge. I'm really a fan of RDS but I'm holding off right now on anything else. The RA finder really made it easier though considering I could just sweep around with it and not have to leave the seat to look through the ep. I'll work on some stuff when it's not raining. Hopefully less than a week this time.

Telrads only look huge until you put them on one of these big Zhumells! I wouldn't trade mine for... well, not the world, but certainly not for a finder scope!

You can mod a Telrad to make it about 1/2 it's original size.
The only problem I had with wind was the whole scope spinning. I put some nylon bearings around the edge of the roller bearing for more friction and a different tension screw thru the middle of the base.

I haven't had any problems with wind with my z8 you just need to tighten the center tension knob

My finder never moves.,I wonder if you have the screw-knob that holds it to its base tight enough.,.good luck.,.,O+O
