Getting started

    Hello guys

I joined this group hoping to contribute to some local content. Just to get things rolling, I have been interested in astronomy since my school days (over 30 years ago). Ground and polished several small mirrors at the time when having half decent optics meant DIY unless you where prepared to spend a small fortune buying commercial gear.

Got into astrophotography push processing slide film, messing around with ‘cold cameras’, dry ice and later hypered film. Today, I am near to completing a 20 inch f4.5. I expect to seek first light anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months depending how much spare time I get. My future plans are to finish the project and then build an equatorial platform so that I can get back into imaging this time with a CCD camera.

    Cheers
    Doug
