    Sure thing. OSETI has been around for more than a decade and is the optical partner (or adversary depending upon one's perspective) of SETI (Search for Extraterrestrials). Most importantly, for folks like us with small telescopes, is that we can participate as individual experimenters with a slight, but non-zero chance of making some kind of a contribution - maybe even being the first to detect other-world signals.     One must keep in mind that the biggest telescope in the world will not see the first signal if it isn't looking at the right place at the right time. Thus, for nearby stars, even a small telescope has a chance if it is looking at the right place at the. . . .
